MEETING APRIL 25, 2009

Green Petal: Uses Resources Wisely

At this meeting the girls celebrated Earth Day. They discussed ways they could help the Earth by writing down ideas on apples and taping them to a tree. They also began their birdfeeders. The girls had lots of fun painting their feeders. Unfortunately, they had to leave them to dry. The good news is, I will have them ready for the girls to take home with them at our next meeting.

Thank you Amy and Mia for the snacks!

A TRUNK FULL OF PAPERS!

On April 11th, Karley and Kelli loaded my trunk full of newspapers! I called West Spartan County Animal Hospital to see if Dr. Patch needed any. It was perfect timing; as they were almost out. I gladly unloaded my trunk and they were very thankful to have received them.

MEETING APRIL 11,2009

We had and Easter themed meeting. The girls were given eggs to dye. They had lots of fun doing this. They shared and passed around different color dyes. They worked well together and praised each others eggs. We also had an Easter Egg Hunt. The moms hid the eggs in the gym and the girls had to find them. They had a total of 60 eggs to look for. The moms did a good job hiding them and the girls loved getting "hot/cold" clues to find them. After our yummy snack, we played a game of Bunny Bingo and used M&M's for our markers.

At this meeting, we discussed the importance of Recycling. Our meetings this month will be centered around the Green Petal-Uses Resources Wisely. We talked about how we can save power and water and talked about how important it is to be good to our planet. Our Community Service Project for this month will be to recycle newspapers. The girls have been instructed to collect old newspapers because we will be giving them to the Humane Society and local Veterinarians. We also recycled plastic juice bottles that we will be making into bird feeders at our next meeting.

Thank you Amy and Samantha for the yummy cakes!
