MEETING: MAY 30,2009

Purple Petal: Respect Myself & Others
Magenta Petal: Respect Authority

This was our last meeting of the year. We started the meeting off by doing our Community Project. We were to use 10% of our cookie profit money to help our community. We decided to decorate Kleenex tissue boxes that will be given out to a retirement community here in the Greer area. The girls decorated the boxes with rub on transfers, markers and stickers. After the boxes were decorated we took the girls down to the gym for our last group circle. In the circle, we discussed what "Respect" means. We can respect ourselves by taking good care of our bodies, we can respect others by being helpful, nice, and thinking about their feelings. We also discussed what it means to Respect Authority. We should always listen to the people that are in charge. Following our discussion, the girls said the Pledge of Allegiance and the Girl Scout Promise. We then played a game of Daisy, Daisy, Girl Scout.
We ended the meeting with a Tea Party. The girls dressed up and while sitted at the table, they were to use their manners and act like little ladies. It was very cute to see the girls in their dressy "attire".
Following our meeting, the girls went to GattiTown where they enjoyed lunch, carousel rides, and games. It was wonderful having them all together for one last time. I hope they enjoyed their first year as an "official" Girl Scout. It has been my pleasure to be their troop leader.
