BROWNIES AT THE BARN : APRIL 16TH

Our troop to a trip to Eden Farms to learn about horses. The girls learned about the types of food and vitamins they are given and even got to listen to the heartbeat. They visited the tack house and groomed a horse. However, the highlight of their afternoon was when they got to actually ride the horses. It was a fun day for sure!

OUTDOOR BROWNIE ADVENTURER

They girls attended Camp Wabak for a weekend of fun on March 25th. They enjoyed a campfire and toasted marsh mellows. They spent the afternoon making crafts, learning how to dress for all the seasons, and hiking up the mountain. Although it rained on us the entire afternoon, the girls did not let that stop them from having a blast!

COOKIE BOOTH: FEBRUARY 26, 2011

Saturday, the girls had their first cookie booth at BiLo. They worked in shifts. Initially they were a little shy when asking potential customers to buy a box, but in no time they were little entrepreneurs. At the booth, the girls sold about 100 boxes of cookie.

THE COOKIES ARE HERE!

On Monday, I picked up 1740 boxes of cookies! It took 2 trucks to carry them home and half the day to unload and sort. The girls sold 1441 boxes in their door to door sale and we have 299 to sale at the booths.

At this week's meeting the girls earned the Caring & Sharing Try-It. They paired up and interviewed one another then shared the information with the group. Afterward, the scouts played "Fishing For Feelings" in which they caught fish that had a certain situation attached to it. Such as "Your neighbor broke her leg. What should you do?" The girls discussed the best ways to handle each different scenario.
At the meeting, we celebrated the upcoming Valentine Holiday with a party. The girls made "Love Bugs, handed out Valentines, and enjoyed a game of Valentine Bingo.

MEETING AT KELLI'S: JANUARY 29, 2011

Instead of having our meeting at the gym, we thought it would be a nice change of scenery to have it at Kelli's house. The girls enjoyed an afternoon full of fun! When they arrived, they all played Just Dance2 on Wii. It was very cute to see all the girls dancing in unison to the music. After working up an appetite, they had pizza, popcorn, cookies, and brownies for lunch. We then took a ride on the golf cart down to the barn to visit the horses. We ended the afternoon, by watching Marmaduke. It was a very fun-filled day!

MEETING JANUARY 18, 2011

At this week's meeting, the girls earned their Penny Power Try-It. We acted out an activity in which the girls went door to door to sale cookies. With their profit, they then visited Kelli's Store. They used their money to buy things and learned about counting money and making change. They also got to test a money marker pen on fake money and real money to learn the difference. This will definitely help them when it comes time for our cookie booth. In our group discussion we talked about how we earn money at home by doing chores. The girls were given information regarding a savings account, should the parents wish to set one up for them. For our craft, we made Valentine cards. These cards will be given to Hearts for Kids to be distributed to children in area hospitals.

We ended the meeting with a game of octopus tag. The girls sure had a great time doing that.

MEETING JANUARY 8, 2011

It was all about cookies at this week's meeting as the girls earned their Cookies Count Try-It. We discussed the upcoming cookie sale, demonstrated how to sale the cookies, made our cookie booth poster and Cookies for Soldiers box and talked about what we would like to do with our cookie profit. Traci Ward spoke to the girls about the possibility of adopting a dog for the soldiers overseas. The girls really liked that idea.

Thank you Wendi and Katie for bringing snacks.

MEETING DECEMBER 18, 2011

Since we missed the last meeting, we had an extra long meeting to get caught up. At today's meeting the girls earned the Art To Wear Try-It. They made holiday wreath pins and bottle cap necklaces. The necklaces were make with bottlecaps, a washer, and a magnet. They turned out really cute. We also got to make Christmas ornaments. At the end of our meeting we played a game of Chinese Christmas.
